小さい神社 Little Shrines

Visiting small shrines is one of the delights of shrine and temple-hunting. Behind Himeji Dokkyo University in Himeji city, some students discovered this cluster of little shrines buried in the woods, just off the street. Each little shrine is dedicated to local branches of the Inari shrines, as well as shrines to local river spirits. Locals have left coins and drink, burnt incense, and prayed at their little favorite deities.
